We thought my cat hated road trips. In his crate or carrier, he would meow incessantly and usually pee on the seat

Then we got him a harness and leash. He actually looks forward to riding in the car and will move around from window to window, acting like a dog

I was bringing my cat home from the vet one day, and it was pitching a serious fit in her carrier. So I let her out, and she promptly crawled in my lap and took a shit. Good thing for her the window was rolled up.
